Some of my impressions of how a future man of the house should be:
Man of the house should not be whining and screaming while the house burns, he should be the one quickly and swiftly whisking his family away to safety. This is implied metaphorically and literally.
Man of the house should not pass off indirect attacks and snide remarks as "sincere" apologies thinking other people are stupid enough not to detect them.
Man of the house should take full responsibility for his mistakes and make things better, not try to shift the blame or expect an apology just because he makes one.
Man of the house should have a generous heart for his loved ones and would go the extra mile to show them that he's able to and willing to provide for them.
Man of the house should know that gifts are meant to be from the heart. If his desire for the gift or reluctance due to personal perception of how the receiving person values it before even giving it, supercede his initial pure intentions, it is clearly not a gift. It's an extremely selfish excuse for himself.
Man of the house should actually have a pair to begin with.
You can plan all you want, but what really happens in the end isn't up to you to decide.
Times like these kinda make me wish I have a defined faith.
So Sehgujie and Uncle Winston are in town. They'd driven down to Melbourne from Sydney over 10 days, stopping by different inn each night, playing golf the next day, exploring the town and walking by the beach before continuing on the road. Shiok.
Had dinner at a thai restaurant with them yesterday. Awesome food, good company! Learnt abit about wine as well, like how Merlot is pretty full-bodied, Cabernet Sauvignon is a little sweet and Shiraz is spicy. So I got myself a glass of Cabernet which gave me a really nice night's worth of sleep.
I find Sehgujie and Uncle Winston to be an inspiring couple; still so very much in love after so many years and they look SO GOOD well over their fifties, heck they still run marathons, travel the world, golf and dive. The cutest thing that happened last night was when Uncle Winston looked at Sehgujie while she was eating her pad thai before turning to me and going "did you know she broke her maggi rule 2 nights ago? WEAK." And Sehgujie got all flustered and defensive (she swears by not eating maggi. Instant noodles are evil, she says) explaining that she was hungry and it was cold. I could tell that he was enjoying seeing her kancheong like that. Not in a sadistic way but in a very "oh my wife's so cute I could pinch her" way.
30 years from now, I'd like to have that same adventurous spirit they do. And hopefully be as fit as they are too :p Exercise time after the exams!
I CAN DO THIS. STAY FOCUSSED. Really wish I started preparing much earlier though.
After tomorrow's paper, dinner with Sehgujie and Uncle Winston then back home to prepare for my next paper which I've barely started revising for (not to mention the last paper which I haven't even touched).
2 more weeks!
